MDA

A Personal Letter from Linda Davis...

As a public figure and celebrity, I am asked quite often to lend my name, talent, and resources to help many causes. After a few years of saying YES to many benefit concerts, telethons, and celebrity auctions, it occured to me that if I were to choose ONE cause to throw my heart into, that I could do more good. It took all of 1 millisecond to choose MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association).

You see, when you have a personal connection to something it's easy to be passionate about it. My 28-year old nephew Jason, and his father Jimmy (my brother-in-law) are my family connection to Muscular Dystrophy. Since participation in many events and having the pleasure of making other friends with neuromuscular diseases...I feel even more deeply connected to MDA.

Many of you may remember the Labor Day Telethon hosted by Jerry Lewis. That might be your "ah ha moment" about MDA...Jerry's Kids. Some of these kids grow to become adults and still face the challenges of MD...just like my nephew. Thankfully, Jason's form of the disease isn't life-threatening...unlike so many.

Individuals like Jason who are affected by neuromuscular diseases, their families and the many MDA-funded researchers look to you and MDA for hope for the future through scientific breakthroughs and immediate help through MDA's extensive health care services program.  At this time, the fight for a cure continues...if you would like to help or make a donation, go to:  www.mdausa.org.

I am honored and proud to serve as a National Vice-President of MDA. My prayer and goal is to see all neuromuscular diseases cured and stopped from being genetically passed on to one more human being.
